For a moment, Lu Feng almost thought the Night Vision Goggles were broken.
But starting this morning, he had already been hit with more than enough shocks. For a moment, he felt like one more hardly made a difference.
A little rookie who had touched a gun for the first time in his life had pulled the trigger for the first time without any pre-aiming, and in less than half a second, landed three bullets on a high-speed moving target fifty meters away?
Was this thing cheating?
Not even trying to hide it?
But in that fleeting glimpse, he saw Ji Jue's gun grip—so standard it was practically outrageous, a textbook shooting stance enough to move an instructor to tears—and his covering fire, worthy of making every comrade bow down and kowtow on the spot. For a moment, Lu Feng began to doubt himself... Had he joined some fake Hell Camp?
"Good kid, hey—"
Beneath his mask, Lu Feng burst into laughter. His Right Hand pulled out the hand axe hanging at the small of his back and split open the skull of an onrushing attacker as he charged forward.
He no longer cared about the shadows chasing from behind.
He let Ji Jue's bullets howl past his ears!
In the distance, Ji Jue fired again.
Again and again.
Then, as if it were only natural, bullets blew open fresh skulls or forced the figures peeking from corners back into hiding, leaving them unable to show their heads.
He could feel the trigger being pulled, the firing mechanism cycling, bullets roaring through the gun, shell casings ejecting from the slide—it was as effortless as picking up an apple with his palm.
There was no need to think, no need to focus. It simply came easily.
That was all.
Yet what overflowed even more was a certain [sensation] brought about by communication, an unprecedented [instinctive reaction].
A sensation he had never experienced before, so utterly exhilarating.
It was as though an invisible person were guiding him hand in hand, offering pointers and carving the experience accumulated and stored over long years into his very marrow—
The instant Ji Jue's ability flowed into this gun, he felt it arise naturally.
It had a soul!
Ji Jue came to an inexplicable realization: perhaps this was the true way to use his ability—to feel a tool, learn from a tool, and then let the tool tell him how it truly wanted to be used!
So, he pulled the trigger.
At the woman who had watched coldly from the corner of the chaotic crowd from beginning to end. He could see the faint scornful sneer on Zhu Hong's lips, and the crimson eyes behind her sunglasses.
Those eyes shifted slightly, turning toward Ji Jue in an instant.
Bang!
The loud explosion of the bullet tearing through the air spread out. The brass round spun as it sank into her brow, pierced her skull, churned her brain into a bowl of foul-smelling tofu pudding, and sprayed it everywhere—at least, that was how it should have gone. It was only logical. Unfortunately, it failed at the very first step.
The bullet entered flesh, yet seemed to strike a ballistic plate head-on. It actually bounced off her skull!
Leaving behind only a wound that swiftly closed.
Ji Jue pulled the trigger again.
In that instant, blood and fire erupted in Zhu Hong's eyes. Faint scales surfaced across that lovely face. She opened her mouth and silently said something.
Ji Jue could not hear a thing.
Yet it made him feel as though he had fallen into an ice cellar.
Because the surveillance system that had just finished rebooting was frantically sending him warnings—[Get out of the way get out of the way get out of the way get out of the way get out of the way!!!!]
Without hesitation, without the slightest delay, Ji Jue threw himself forward like a vicious dog pouncing on food. It was neither graceful nor dashing, but flowed like a donkey rolling through a Mud Pit.
An ugly sort of flowing like clouds and water.
Then, the thick concrete ground where he had been standing, along with the parking sign above it, was Torn apart!
A roaring loud explosion.
A long tail covered in scales of bizarre colors suddenly emerged from thin air. It appeared for an instant, then blurred again, impossible to distinguish in the darkness. Yet through the camera's infrared feed, images kept streaming into Ji Jue's sight.
It was a python!
In the infrared surveillance feed, the bizarre Giant Serpent slithered through the shadows. Its scales reflected brilliant glimmers of light, crystal-clear and translucent. But to the naked eye, those colors blended into the environment, impossible to make out in the dark.
The Giant Serpent, several meters long, writhed as it coiled in the darkness. From its belly dragged one cumbersome limb after another, as though its evolution had never finished, while tumors sprouted all across its face.
And lingering in its eyes was blood and fire filled with hunger and madness!
"Fuck, Feng Ge, watch out! There's a hunte—"
In that fleeting opening, Ji Jue did not even dare look back. He shouted with all his strength, only to see the Giant Serpent spring toward him like a coiled spring.
He instinctively ducked, subconsciously trying to roll away, but just as the front half of his body shot out, his legs seemed to be Entwined by ropes and were yanked violently upward!
The Giant Serpent's tail was as nimble as a hand. It wrapped around Ji Jue's left leg, tightened, and lifted him into the air. Then it opened its bloodbasin of a mouth, snapping shut through a reeking gust of wind as it bit down at Ji Jue's head.
Bang.
A muffled impact burst from between its closing jaws. That snake maw, powerful enough to crush bone like a guillotine, stopped dead... blocked by Ji Jue's arm!
Even those frenzied snake eyes seemed filled with shock and disbelief.
Scraps of paper emerged beneath the torn work uniform, sliced apart by snake fangs—for fear of facing another attack from Old Bastard's deadly mouth, Ji Jue had used tape to wrap thick books layer upon layer around his arm. It was none other than the set capable of making the Lu Family's Youngest cry through the night: Thirty Volumes of Exam King!
"How does knowledge taste?"
His expression twisted with the pain of cracking bones, but Ji Jue couldn't help but grin. His Other Hand shot out, driving the scorching Gun Barrel into the Giant Serpent's pupil. After ripping apart its iris, he pulled the trigger madly!
Four bullets exploded inside the eye socket in succession. The Giant Serpent screamed miserably and convulsed violently. Ji Jue was flung away and smashed into the ground, his vision blackening as he nearly passed out.
But before he could crawl up, he felt a bone-piercing chill.
The Giant Serpent's huge body Crawled out amid convulsions, then suddenly coiled around Ji Jue's body, tightening inch by inch!
This was a python's hunting instinct, constriction powerful enough to squeeze even large carnivores into pulp!
Crack!
Ji Jue heard the Unable to bear the burden groan of his left arm. His Other Hand groped wildly, but all it could grasp was half a tail tip. He could not pull it free at all.
Suddenly, Lu Feng caught sight of Ji Jue's tragic state from the corner of his eye. He threw aside the Submachine Gun in his Other Hand, now completely empty, and sprinted over corpses.
His Other Hand pulled out the Shotgun. He did not aim it at the python, but instead turned and pulled the trigger at Zhu Hong, who stood in the distance with folded arms and a cold smile!
To capture bandits, first capture their king!
A rain of metal fire sprayed from the Gun Barrel, howling toward her in an instant. It sank into Zhu Hong's body, but after Penetration through that custom-made gown, it was swallowed by wriggling flesh, making her take only one step back.
He did not stop. He pulled the trigger repeatedly, and the entire parking lot filled with deafening roars.
Even that slender figure seemed to turn into a lump of rotten meat in an instant. Shreds of clothing fluttered through the air, revealing patches of shocking crimson and blush-inducing pale skin.
And even three bouncing, soft, cone-shaped objects... three?
Lu Feng, closing in, could not help but pause. His vision blurred, as though something had flown past him.
Wait, why did she have three boobs?!
And what was that thing that had just flown past...
His Gun Barrel suddenly sank. Two bloody and mangled hands rose and gripped it, hissing.
In that close at hand gap, that once-lovely face slowly lifted, revealing a twisted smile covered in bullet holes and crimson, mocking him like this:
"What are you looking at?"
The next instant, Lu Feng finally understood what had flown past him. That thing was lodged against his throat—it was an... arm!
A bizarre arm hidden beneath the gown and disguise!
It gripped Lu Feng's neck and slowly lifted him.
One, two, three...
Lu Feng's eyes widened as he counted the number of arms on this woman again. He could not believe it, but soon felt relieved: everyone knew people were born with two boobs and two arms. If someone had three boobs, then having three arms seemed perfectly reasonable!
Then he saw a fourth bizarre limb, sharp as a blade, slowly extend from behind Zhu Hong's back, followed by a fifth!
Like a spider finally tearing free from the restraints of its skin membrane and revealing its true form.
"I thought it was some kind of ghostly thing. Who would have thought ingredients would deliver themselves right to my door? I even have you to thank for clearing away these burdens and trash for me."
Zhu Hong grinned, smiling as her fingers slowly tightened. She savored the pleasure of prey breaking beneath her torment, but then, before her eyes... a light suddenly flashed.
The lights flickered.
At last, the power was back!
But the arrival of that light was not a signal of victory. It was sudden, terrible news.
A miserable scream sounded.
Lu Feng swore that this was the first time in his life he had heard a snake scream. It sounded rather like Ji Jue screaming too... but he quickly realized that it was Ji Jue who was screaming.
Because that mass which had once been a bizarre Giant Serpent could no longer make any sound at all!
Just moments ago, Ji Jue, on the verge of being strangled to death by the Giant Serpent, had made one last futile struggle.
He had not wasted energy trying to bite that damned thing a couple more times. Instead, he used every ounce of his strength to grip the monster python's tail... and jammed it into an electrical outlet!
"Hey, bro."
Ji Jue's face, flushed liver-red, lifted with difficulty. Facing the Giant Serpent, he gave one Last smile. "Do you have a ground wire?"
Snap!
In that instant, drawing Spiritual Substance from his watch, his ability activated!
Everything that had been shut down rebooted once again.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The whole building shook as if trembling. The breakers that had tripped seemed to come alive, reconnecting and bathing the Nightclub, once filled with darkness and chaos, in dazzling light.
Ji Jue included.
Amid the Transformer Box's wail, when the terrifying voltage capable of powering an entire Nightclub's dance floor, lights, sound system, performances, booths, back kitchen, hall, and every room came rushing in at Ji Jue's call—burning the wires to melt them by fire if necessary—the Giant Serpent, for the first time in its life, shone brilliantly.
Like a lightbulb.
The racing current was like a tsunami. After instantly burning through the thin shell on its tail, it surged into the giant python's flesh, spreading through its blood and bones, permeating its entire body and radiating heat.
In less than a second, the wires had been completely melted by fire and no longer had any effect. The Giant Serpent's body, meanwhile, stiffened completely in place, its shell-like scales—poor conductors—barely holding it in its original pose.
Soon, amid Ji Jue's convulsions, it broke into several sections. Its former savage and ferocious appearance was no longer visible. It looked like foreskin charred into black lumps beneath an electric scalpel, giving off a scorched, rotten fragrance that drove reason astray.
Ji Jue coughed violently and convulsed. He barely crawled to his feet, fell again, and finally Supported himself upright—only to be unable to suppress the urge to vomit any longer.
He threw up copiously.
Only after he finally came back to himself, gasping for breath and raising his head, did he notice the corpses dead all around, as well as Lu Feng, lifted by the neck over a pool of blood.
And Zhu Hong, who looked as though she had seen a ghost.
Staring at him.
He subconsciously touched his face, only to discover that his mask had vanished during the Giant Serpent's constriction. His pale face was now smeared with saliva and nosebleed, almost unrecognizable.
Only the scar climbing from his neck to his cheek remained so conspicuous.
Impossible to forget at a glance.
It was over. His identity was exposed.
Ji Jue slapped his forehead, Sighed, and barely forced out a warm smile toward the car-owner lady who had so enthusiastically invited him out to have fun.
"Hi, boss."
He smoothed his explosive hair, blinked his watery eyes, and tried his hardest to squeeze out just a hint of seductive charm. "Need service?"
