The room was a mess. As afternoon neared dusk, even the lights had dimmed.

In the randomly rented house, there was deathly silence, with only fury spreading through the air.

Smack, smack, smack, smack...

Amid the dull thuds, the scar-faced captain had just returned from outside. After slamming the door shut, he looked towards the Chosen One keeping watch in the corner. Once he confirmed the inside and outside were shielded, he could no longer contain his rage. He hurled his hat to the floor, kicked a chair away, and roared, "Were you fucking insane today, Herbert? This isn't Central Earth, understand? If we really piss off the Security Bureau, do you think we can get out of Haizhou?"

"Kill, kill, kill all day long—kill your fucking mother! We came out here to make money, not to play at murder, got it? Who's going to pay for your treatment if we don't have money? Do you know how many people are looking for us outside right now? Well, that's fucking great. No money to make now—we can just wait for death!"

Smack, smack, smack...

Amid the muffled impacts, no one answered.

That only made the captain more enraged. "Herbert, I'm fucking talking to you! Did you hear me?"

"Heh..."

By the table, Herbert leaned against the wall, knocking his head against it now and then. He wore an empty smile, his expression twitching from time to time.

Powder still remained on the foil spread across the table.

"Captain, it's my fault. I know. I shouldn't have... I was wrong..."

Lost in the hallucinations induced by banned drugs, Herbert's pupils dilated as he panted, "I know, but there are voices, voices... The sound of water droplets, the sound of bells, voices talking... It's so chaotic..."

"I'm so tired. I can't sleep."
