"Wow, an oasis! What a huge crocodile!"
"Could that possibly be called a lizard?"
Ji Jue sighed. Just how remote was the An Family? Never mind not having gone to high school—how had she never even watched a nature documentary?
Unfortunately, before she could hear Ji Jue's explanation, An Ning had already jumped out of the car, nimbly flipped over the sand dune, and leaped toward the tiny oasis.
Blending into the crowd.
The many wild animals gathered by the pond with their heads lowered to drink did not even raise their heads—or perhaps they did not dare to—as she grabbed them one by one for photos.
Until even the oasis could no longer stand her.
As the earth shook and the mountains trembled, yellow sand roiled and surged, parting to either side.
The oasis rose. A head like a mountain crag extended from between the rocks, seeming to glance back at them. Then, several enormous feet like boulders supported its body, which stretched several kilometers across. Carrying the pond and greenery on its back, it swayed unsteadily into the distance.
It seemed slow, but was actually swift.
In just a few minutes, it vanished amid the yellow sands.
Only An Ning, her face blasted full of sand, bounced back excitedly. "Did you see that, Brother Ji Jue? It was alive—it really was alive!"
"It really was huge."
Ji Jue leaned against the driver's seat, gazing in the direction the oasis had gone, and murmured in awe.
It was his first time seeing such an enormous creature.
Some experts said it was also a disaster beast, apparently a mutated land tortoise, though a rare gentle type. It could survive even by eating nothing but dirt and sand, and its body would continue growing larger, so it had few natural enemies.
