It was like a Giant lying outside a petri dish, looking down into it and staring at everything within.
Under the gaze of that bizarre eye, every scene resembled a smashed display screen, with dazzling blocks of color and jagged, intermittent cracks emerging and flickering unstably.
The game had bugged out. Textures flew everywhere, polygons shifted unpredictably, collision volumes ran out of control, and piercing noises came one after another.
Compared to the twisted, distorted entire sea, the meteors falling from the sky were no more than a few fireflies. Under that eye's gaze, they rapidly turned transparent, going from existence to nothingness, becoming phantoms before vanishing completely.
In an instant, the lingering light of dusk was burned to ashes, and everything returned to darkness.
BOOM!!
In the final instant before they vanished, the blazing meteors suddenly trembled and broke apart, stirring up a tremendous upheaval in mid-air that swept across the entire sea.
Violent shockwaves howled outward in every direction.
Explosion!
Unfortunately, even such power was still insufficient to break the "veil" covering reality. At most, it merely peeled back one corner, revealing the savagery hidden behind the illusion.
Corpses—countless corpses.
Those translucent phantom corpses floated over the deathly sea surface, rising and falling. Every soul stripped of its self by Dream Loss Syndrome had appeared in the sea, drifting with the waves.
As though pulled by invisible gravity, they continued gathering in an endless stream. Countless bodies intertwined into a bizarre Vortex, silently circling as they gradually converged upon the barren island in the sea.
Until they crawled ashore. One hollow walking corpse after another, wearing blissful smiles and singing joyfully, gathered helplessly toward The Tower at the center.
Piling atop one another, they wriggled endlessly as they began climbing toward the very top of The Tower.
