Good Times
He opened his eyes and saw the familiar ceiling.
Raising his head, he heard the range hood humming in the kitchen and the seemingly never-ending clamor in the living room. It had started at the crack of dawn and hadn't stopped since—noisy, yet reassuring.
From behind the half-open door, a pair of dark eyes peeked in. Noticing Ji Jue lift his head, Youngest sneakily squeezed into the room with a workbook, pointing at the completely blank answers and asking in a lowered voice, "Second Brother, how do I do this?"
From outside the cramped bedroom came Lu Ling's furious accusation: "Eldest Brother, why are your underwear hanging on the doorframe again?!"
"Come on, what's the big deal about hanging them there?" The person on the sofa, picking at his feet while scrolling videos, rolled over without a care.
"Mom, look at him!"
"Enough, enough. Where's Youngest? Keep an eye on him." Lu Ma turned and shouted from the kitchen, "See if Little Ji is up yet! If he's awake, get him up to eat. I stewed old hen soup all night!"
"I'm up, I'm up."
After hurriedly helping Youngest finish the homework that would be checked today, Ji Jue walked out of the bedroom with a yawn, pretending he had only just opened his eyes. Before he could even sit down, the table was already piled high with food.
"Whoa! What's the occasion today? This is such a feast~"
After rubbing his hands together like a fly, Lu Feng immediately reached for a chicken leg. The brothers and sisters followed suit. There was no such thing as courtesy here—once you grabbed it and stuffed it into your mouth, it was yours. Any child hoping their older siblings would yield them a pear would have cried themselves to death
