(Riot at the Shrine)
After Saya no Kō and Amawaka Touma left the shrine, they got into the car and drove away. Amawaka Touma said, "Director, it seems Miss Ena likes this King very much."
Saya no Kō smiled. "That child grew up in nature and underwent rigorous training. Judging good from evil is what she does best. It seems that King really is as kind-hearted as the rumors say. Only someone kind-hearted like that could attract her. You can tell she's very happy."
"That would be for the best," Amawaka Touma said. "Back when communication was difficult, the Monkey God Lord was very important to the Four Great Families and national security. But now, it's easy to contact every region. If a Disobedient God appears, the Kings in every region can be notified immediately. There's practically no need to use the Monkey God Lord anymore."
"Furthermore, miko with the ability to Dispel Calamity are becoming increasingly rare. No one has seen the Monkey God Lord in over sixty years. Although one was recently discovered, the Monkey God Lord is still a Disobedient God—a hidden danger, and an extremely troublesome one at that. Having King Chen Fan and China's God Slayer, Jiangnan Luo Hao, help resolve it would count as saving this place. The only concern is the extent of the disaster that will result."
Saya no Kō frowned at that, because it was also what worried her most. The Monkey God Lord was an extraordinarily troublesome deity. He was too famous, and too many legends and honors had been heaped upon him, making him immensely powerful.
That so-called Great Sealing Technique sounded incomparably powerful, but its fundamental principle was simply making the monkey forget his own name. The essence of a god was belief—the recognition of one's own identity.
