After saying that, he sensed something was off. Everyone around him was staring at him wide-eyed, their expressions filled with disbelief—and even more pity. Bucktooth was so startled that he trembled as he said, "What? It's just some gossip I heard."
Chen Fan's heart pounded as he cautiously looked at Mira. The smile on Mira's face grew brighter and brighter. It's over, Chen Fan thought.
Sure enough, Mira turned around and ignored Chen Fan, continuing with her work and leaving him only her back. Seeing there was no more excitement to watch, the guild members dispersed. They knew that whenever Chen Fan got angry, someone was bound to suffer. They hurried off, afraid of getting splattered with blood, leaving the still-bewildered Bucktooth standing alone in the middle.
With a calm expression, Chen Fan walked over to Bucktooth, patted him on the shoulder, and gestured for him to follow him outside. Before long, an inhuman scream rang out, making everyone in the guild's hearts tremble. One by one, they silently counted themselves lucky that they had not embarrassed Chen Fan like Bucktooth had, or that would have been their fate. They wore relieved expressions as they clinked glasses in celebration. It was clear just how rotten this bunch was.
After a while, Chen Fan returned looking thoroughly refreshed. A few people sneaked out through the front door and saw a swollen-faced man lying on the ground. Their faces went pale in fright. Chen Fan was really ruthless—he had beaten him until even his own mother wouldn't recognize him. Out of consideration for being in the same guild, they carried Bucktooth off to another hospital.
"Mira, I was wrong. Please forgive me." Chen Fan shamelessly begged Mira, but Mira still refused to speak to him. He had already lost count of how many times this had happened.
The people in the guild, meanwhile, acted as if they were used to it and continued drinking and chatting.
"Fine, you won't talk to me, is that it? Elfman, get your ass out here..." Chen Fan's tone hardened.
"After seeing that you made Mira angry, he ran off who knows where ages ago," Makarov said from the side.
Hearing the guild master say that only made Chen Fan angrier. "Then where's Gray?"
"He ran off somewhere too."
"Then you're still here, Guild Master." Chen Fan glared viciously at Makarov, cracking his knuckles as he approached with a sinister grin, startling Makarov.
Just then, Chen Fan heard Levy's voice. "Where did that 200,000 J job go?" Chen Fan stopped as well.
"I think Natsu took it," Makarov said.
"Ah, what a shame. It was such a good job," Levy said regretfully.
"No, not necessarily. Maybe it's better that no one took it. The client just called and changed it."
"Did they cancel the job?" Mira asked from the side.
"No, they raised the reward tenfold." Makarov opened his eyes as he spoke.
"Wouldn't that make it 2 million J? That's enough to mount an expedition," Levy said in shock.
"No, it really was the right choice not to take it. But forget 2 million J—I don't think Natsu and the others will get even 200 J. Hey, Levy." Chen Fan cut in from the side.
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Fan slid over toward Levy.
"Stop. Don't come any closer." The two knights, Salsuk and Draer, stepped in front of Chen Fan and blocked him.
"How can you be like this? I just want to be Levy's big brother. You're being far too cruel. Boohoo." Tears even fell from his eyes as he spoke. This was a secret technique that could only be used after psychic powers reached Level 4. Chen Fan refused to believe that kind-hearted little Levy would not fall for it.
"We don't believe in tears..." This time, even Levy spoke in unison with the other two, leaving Chen Fan speechless.
Still sliding, Chen Fan retreated to Mira's side and sat down, sighing. "People these days have no heart. My Mira is still the kind-hearted one."
But Mira completely ignored him. He was not embarrassed in the slightest; his skin was apparently thick enough to reach a certain level.
Bored, he looked around while listening to the guild members chat. Suddenly, Chen Fan heard someone say that Erza would be back soon. Chen Fan's face showed no reaction, but Mira's expression froze slightly.
Although Chen Fan did not notice it, Makarov beside Mira did.
With a faint smile on his face, he continued drinking the beer in his hand.
