Akainu heard the man's voice and turned his eyes toward him. "Dr. Vegapunk!" Akainu said. His fury had shattered all reason, and he had completely forgotten that this person was here. Though he usually looked down on people who tinkered with machines, he now needed him more than anyone. Vegapunk was known as a scientist whose wisdom surpassed humanity's by five hundred years. Whether in medicine, biology, or mechanical engineering, he had exceeded human imagination.

"Why are you here?" Akainu asked.

"Aokiji told us," Fleet Admiral Sengoku said. When Akainu had been brought back, he had been stunned as well. Chen Fan had actually defeated even Akainu. Later, after hearing from 397 that Chen Fan had destroyed the island and knocked Akainu into the sea, he found it somewhat easier to understand. They had also learned one thing: despite being a Devil Fruit user, Chen Fan was not afraid of seawater.

Yet anyone could see from the way Akainu looked at Aokiji that he wanted nothing more than to kill him. But this was not Aokiji's fault at all. Akainu had acted on his own and set out first, while Spandam had delayed for a long time to save a Golden Den Den Mushi. And Aokiji had indeed said those words. Fleet Admiral Sengoku only hoped to ease some of Akainu's resentment.

However, after Fleet Admiral Sengoku mentioned Aokiji, the killing intent around Akainu grew even denser. Fleet Admiral Sengoku shook his head. Their relationship had never been good, and now it seemed even less likely to be reconciled.

"Do you want revenge on the person who left you with those scars?" Dr. Vegapunk asked Akainu.

"I want to kill him! I
