Quite a few Jonin frowned. Kurenai came to Chen Fan's side and tugged at his hand. Anko also came over, signaling that she believed Chen Fan. The scene turned into the two sides staring each other down.
"Enough. Don't be impulsive. Everyone, calm down. Chen Fan, explain the process in detail," the Third Hokage said, sounding somewhat troubled.
Chen Fan spread his hands. "What else is there to say? I did my best. If Orochimaru wanted to run, I couldn't stop him. None of you could have stopped him either. He said he wanted Sasuke, and I stopped him. That was why Sasuke ended up being branded with the curse mark, and why I let the Chunin Exam continue. Otherwise, Konoha would have been destroyed."
Everyone was shaken by Chen Fan's words. Orochimaru destroying Konoha was entirely possible.
Chen Fan turned his gaze to Kakashi. "I forced this deal through with my own strength. Anko is my woman, so naturally I put her first. While I was at it, I protected your Konoha too, all because Anko and Kurenai hoped for it. As for Sasuke, Kakashi, you're his teacher. Don't shove your responsibilities onto me. I don't owe you anything. I chose the safest option. At least there haven't been massive casualties so far. That's all thanks to me. Don't make it sound like I've done something unforgivable just because I made a deal with Orochimaru. Between Konoha's safety and Sasuke's safety, I chose Konoha. Or do you think Sasuke's safety is more important than Konoha's? I'm the one who protected Konoha, not you."
After hearing Chen Fan's words, all the Jonin considered it objectively and realized that he was right. Chen Fan was a hero
