Cheng Ping'an was indignant, and the emotional shift in his piano playing showed it.
The old man, elegantly swirling half a glass of red wine, heard the change in the music. He raised an eyebrow and opened his eyes. His son was muttering something to himself, and the old man's whole body jolted as he shouted:
"You're daydreaming again? Do you know Mo Xiaoxue is miles ahead of you? How can you still slack off? Huh, Cheng Ping'an!"
The old man's roar made Cheng Ping'an jump. At the mention of Mo Xiaoxue, he gave up entirely.
"Dad, she has a great big brother. Of course she's miles ahead of me."
"Look at me. I'm miles ahead of some of my classmates, too. You can't compare people like that. Without comparisons, there's no hurt.
"Dad, if you really want to compare, then compare yourself with Mo Xiaoxue's brother. If you can beat him, then your son here can do it, too!"
After blurting it all out, Cheng Ping'an felt a little nervous. He glanced at his dad apprehensively.
Even though Cheng Ping'an had mentally prepared himself to get thrashed with the Seven Wolves, he was still scared.
Seeing the old man lost in thought, Cheng Ping'an felt an urge to run.
Just as he was about to put that plan into action, the old man gave him a complicated look and said:
"You have a point. We don't need to compare ourselves to other people."
"As long as you're happy, that's what matters. Everything else... is secondary." Faced with his father's sudden change of heart, Cheng Ping'an had trouble accepting it.
Shouldn't he have gotten beaten up by now?
