Lunar New Year's Eve.
It was the last night of the year. The final day of the year was called "Year's End," meaning that the old year had come to an end and a new one would begin.
Candy had gotten up early that morning. As soon as she came downstairs, she saw her older brother sitting in a chair, grinning at his phone all by himself.
Curious, Candy went over to take a look.
Good grief, the WeChat group was full of red envelope notifications!
"Big brother."
Mo Jingchun had noticed Candy ages ago. He looked up at her and asked calmly,
"What is it?"
"Hehe, add me to the group too. I'm super cute, and I'm great at chatting."
Mo Jingchun chuckled. "Today's not a good day for daydreaming. This is a company work group. If you want to join, you can talk about it when you're eighteen and an adult."
"Huh? That's still ages away."
Mo Jingchun only smiled. Candy hadn't caught his meaning.
Was joining the group the point?
No.
There was no chance of getting in, and Candy felt like a deflated balloon.
There were so many red envelopes, and her brother wasn't claiming a single one. Watching them made her fingers itch. She really wanted to tap one.
"Big brother, why aren't you claiming the red envelopes?"
"If I claimed them, it wouldn't be any fun."
As if he knew what she was thinking, Mo Jingchun glanced around and took two red envelopes out of his pocket.
In an instant, Candy's eyes went wide.
"Lucky Money for you and Zero. One each."
"Thanks, big brother! Long live big brother!"
Beaming, Candy took the red envelope. It didn't even occur to her to keep Zero's share for herself.
"Zero, here's your Lucky Money."
Zero accepted
