"Why aren't you saying anything? Do you both want me to call your parents?"
After waiting for a while and seeing that the two students still refused to speak or even come up with an excuse, homeroom teacher Liang Shen grew somewhat angry.
What did he, as a teacher, lose by their not doing their homework? If anything, he had two fewer assignments to grade and two more minutes to rest.
If he hadn't wanted to take responsibility for every student, Liang Shen wouldn't have been willing to waste class time calling them out by name.
He was worried that if he didn't show the students a little of what he was capable of, more and more of them would stop turning in their homework.
If the average scores for every subject in Class One ended up at the bottom of the grade, how could he face anyone?

"Next week, when you come to school, have your parents come see me."
"I don't know what you were thinking. Or perhaps many people in our class think that being in Class One means everything will be fine.
"To be frank, if any of you fail several exams in a row, you'll be transferred to another class with students who have better grades when the new semester begins.
"If you have an older brother or sister, you should know about this unwritten rule."
"I won't say anything more. Some of you had better think carefully about your actions. You two will stand for the rest of this class. Class dismissed."
Feeling the two classmates' inexplicable hostility, Candy frowned.
