Quirrell looked at the bracelet Tao Yu handed him. At first, he didn't think much of it and simply took it.
He was Voldemort's servant at Hogwarts, there to assist him. He already knew that one of his master's reasons for coming to Hogwarts this time was to retrieve a Horcrux.
But when he found a moment to look for it, he discovered that the hidden Horcrux was gone. He could only tell from his master's faint sense of it that it was still somewhere in Hogwarts.
To make the search easier for Quirrell, Voldemort had even told him that the Horcrux was shaped like a crown.
So, when Quirrell received the bracelet, he didn't suspect it was the Horcrux. He simply praised Tao Yu as a matter of course, then sent him on his way.
But as soon as Tao Yu had left and Quirrell was about to examine the strange object, a familiar presence suddenly followed the back door Voldemort had installed in him and possessed him.
"A barely acceptable body. But it seems one of my fragments of soul must have entered your body before, my servant."
Voldemort's cold voice echoed in Quirrell's mind, and a look of terror spread across his face.
The back of his head, which had already healed, now bore a face once again!
"Oh, my Lord! I never imagined it would be you! I-I'm so excited!"
Quirrell was thrilled to have found the Horcrux, but also terrified.
Both sides were Voldemort!
Both were his masters!
Why had the Horcrux become a bracelet?
Why had Tao Yu brought it to him?
It seemed the soul inside this Horcrux had no intention of giving up
