Mak'bara watched Teresa point her sword at him, a trace of melancholy on his face.
Teresa didn't deny that Mak'bara had saved her. Instead, she replied calmly,
"If you hadn't been there just now, I'd probably have been decapitated. I owe you my life, but no matter what, I won't join the Awakened or side with an Abyssal One."
As she spoke, her severed arm gradually healed as the wound sealed.
She didn't have the kind of ability that could regenerate severed limbs, but simply reattaching one with 'glue' was basic enough.
In Teresa's eyes, Mak'bara was one of the strongest Abyssal Ones among the Awakened—and an unknown King of the Abyss!
The three strongest Abyssal Ones were currently Isley of the North, Riful of the West, and Luciela of the South. All were products of former No. 1 Claymores awakening: one man and two women.
Abyssal Ones sometimes chose to torment Claymores, forcing them to awaken so they could absorb them into their ranks.
Seeing Mak'bara save her, Teresa had assumed that was what he was doing.
"I can give your life back after I've killed you, but for now, I'm afraid I have no choice..."
Teresa's unwavering words moved the three other Claymores, Numbers Four and Five included.
As enemies, she had been so despair-inducing. But now that she was a temporary ally, she felt so dependable!
"Your life isn't mine. It belongs to my boss, so don't go throwing around words like 'death' so casually."
Mak'bara paid no attention to their reactions. He raised a hand and pulled Priscilla, who had recovered considerably, out of a crater a hundred meters away, then grabbed her by the head.
Looking at the
