Although the core Creation Engine in the Origin Sanctuary still couldn't be activated, Murphy's administrator privileges were at least enough to relight the Furnace of Origins, which served as an "infinite energy" source.
Even though it was running at a pitiful 20% efficiency, that was still more than enough to bring the main Creation Engine and its auxiliary equipment online. The device, dormant for over a thousand years, seemed to come back to life.
The production lines in the enormous underground city began operating, and the maintenance machines came back online.
It was like a deserted factory starting up again. Its employees all seemed rather lackadaisical, and were definitely slacking off in a most unprofessional manner, but at least the place was moving again.
Unfortunately, Murphy still hadn't obtained "Sole Authority: Creator," so he couldn't interfere with the facility's original production plans.
The Creation Engine had never been fully installed, even a thousand years ago. When Chaos attacked the Eden District and brought the Golden Age to an end, the project was about 90% complete. A few odds and ends remained unfinished, and the Creator's overall plan for transforming the planet had been devastated by the changes Chaos had wrought upon the world.
"27% construction completion. Well, no surprise there."
At a console not far from the Creation Engine, Murphy logged in using his Omni Device and checked the progress of the "World Transformation" project with his own privileges. He found that fewer than a third of the underground energy conduits laid throughout the planet during the Golden Age remained, and only a handful of Creator's Lands could still connect to the Creation Engine's power supply.
