The special operation Murphy had ordered to be called "Sword of Dawn" sounded incredibly impressive, but in reality, the codename had only been thought up on the spur of the moment. There was no particular reason for it—Murphy had simply thought of a phrase that sounded really cool and decided to use it.
That didn't mean the operation was a slapdash affair, though.
In fact, while Banks City had stabilized with the help of the Western Underworld Army and the upheavals in the Warp had turned into a tangible victory, Sword of Dawn had already reached a crucial stage amid the increasingly dangerous night in East Prussia. And the operation team was made up of nothing but genuine elite fighters.
Leading the team was Heather Hoffman, Third Lord of the Blood Covenant Knights, who had a "personal grudge" against Old Black. The dwarf Golden One, who had been tormented by Old Black for nearly two hundred years, was consumed by an uncontrollable rage. To fulfill the mission she had been given, Heather had even made a special trip to Base R-9 before entering East Prussia to undergo augmentation surgery.
She hadn't just had a Dagon symbiote implanted. She'd also had the honor of placing the first Chaos Core grown in the laboratory inside her, making Heather the first "anti-Chaos super-soldier" under Murphy in the truest sense of the word.
Although she was still adapting, her extraordinary resistance to Chaos corruption, combined with Heather's already formidable offensive power, made her look like a bulldozer. The battles she had fought since setting out hadn't required anyone else to intervene; Heather's two flying shields had taken care of everything with ease.
The members of the combat team under Heather's command were just as incredible.
