Murphy, looking somewhat drained, leaned back in the moving carriage with his eyes closed, resting.
He had followed his own special rules for the Embrace, giving Shani an excessive amount of blood to help her get through the discomfort of her "clan conversion" more quickly. The price was that the vampire governor had become weak, something he hadn't experienced in a long time.
Though his strength was far beyond what it had once been, this kind of weakness, imposed by the rules of the species, was still hard to resist.
The good news was that, thanks to the powerful assistance of Murphy, her elder, Shani, seated across from him, wouldn't have to endure a painful transformation. What's more, she had gained a pair of wings as soon as the Embrace was complete.
The wings of every clan other than the Blood Hawks were merely decorative. Shani, however, could feel her own wings growing with every passing second. Perhaps by tonight she would be able to soar through the sky like the other Blood Hawks, though mastering the skies like a high-ranking Blood Hawk would still require hard work and practice.
Other than that, Shani hadn't noticed many changes.
Of course, inheriting weaker versions of Murphy's many absurd abilities had given her a more accurate understanding of his hidden strength, but it had also raised even more questions.
"I'm curious."
In the carriage, Shani wore a hood to disguise herself as an attendant. She wiped the Gauntlet of Fallen Virtue with a handkerchief, then looked at Murphy, who was resting across from her, and said:
"With so many incredible enhancements, my elder, just look at these terrifying talents you possess.
Death Immunity, Blood Spirit Mimicry, Chaos Immunity, Truth Pursuit, Divine Slayer.
Good heavens, your combat potential ought to be so immense
