The internal security units aboard the Scarlet Dawn had all been activated. The entire starship's room-to-room access had been sealed off, leaving only the route to the Madblood gathering place open.
The Madbloods locked inside the safe zones naturally wouldn't be subjected to suppression, either. Aside from howling from behind the blockade, they were completely powerless to stop these frail but cunning foreign vampires from running rampant through their territory.
The ones running wild everywhere, however, weren't so lucky.
On the way to the ecological dome, Murphy and the others saw mechanical warriors, painted and refitted in a distinctly vampiric style, ruthlessly suppressing Madbloods at every turn. Given the Madbloods' absurd physical resilience and regenerative abilities, the machines could strike with all their strength without worrying about killing the thugs. The result was a supremely gory battle scene, like walking through a horror movie set strewn with severed limbs.
But for the little players, this was nowhere near as interesting as getting a good look at the mechanical guards.
The riot-control machines before them could basically be considered downgraded versions of Eden District's intelligent guards. They looked a lot like intelligent machines such as Penny, but were a size smaller and carried no lethal weapons. Their exteriors were all painted scarlet, with streamlined bodies and vampiric combat claws.
Some also had mechanical wings that could unfold and vibrate, as well as boosters for charging.
It was obvious that the starship's security machines had been designed in the styles of the seven vampire clans. That was probably a subtle tradition meant to show who the starship belonged to.
