These fellows were either striving to follow Old Ao's path and become the foundations of the cosmos, or had their own reasons for wanting a core.
Tritan and Eris, for example, were after the "guaranteed divine authority" that came with an artificial divine core. Hayes had originally wanted one for the same reason, but after Wam beat him up several times, he'd buckled down and resolved to work hard instead.
The news that Old Wam was planning to "dismantle himself and start over" had spread. Hayes had probably been forced to accept Old Wam's wishes: he would devote himself to guarding the battlefront in the subspace as a new god, while also serving as Old Wam's "guide" after he dismantled himself. It just went to show that Wam might look brainless, but he was actually quite shrewd.
