"What? You're saying they found something? A Dark Core that can explode?"
Murphy had returned to Shadow Valley to resume his work as a tunnel supervisor—and sneak in some downtime. Adele soon brought him some news that left him stunned. After getting a detailed description of the Dark Core's form and features, he turned to look at Villanthe, the spider woman standing beside him in a dignified pose, pretending to be a pretty NPC.
"My heroes killed the Dark Chosen and found some Dark Cores that seem to be seeds of the Lord of Darkness's power. Apparently, those things can cause violent explosions. Why didn't we find anything after killing nearly fifty Dark Chosen in the tunnels?
"Did you hide them away?
"You seem rather interested in dangerous things like these."
"You've got some nerve saying that."
The spider woman rolled her eyes adorably. Two of her six hands were folded across her chest, two rested on her hips, and the last pair kept the tools she used for divination swaying at a particular rhythm.
She complained bitterly:
"The moment you activate that strange 'purifying aura' you call 'Omega,' forget the seeds of the Dark Chosen's power—even if the Lord of Darkness attacked you personally, nothing would be left behind.
"That strange power has the most overbearing purifying effect I've ever seen. I don't even dare use some of the depraved spells bestowed on me by the Spider Lady in front of you, in case I provoke your power and get purified into ash.
"I'd guess the Dark Cores inside those Dark Chosen had already dissipated by the time you killed them. Still, it's quite common for these dark cultists to drop seeds of power when they're killed. After all, the Lord of Darkness left them in the material world
