Absorbing the power of his Grand Duke's Heart replenished her missing origin and ended the debilitating weakness that had afflicted her for more than a century, though it did not fully restore her former power. |
| Blood Vulture Grand Duchess | 121 | Assumed the Blood Vulture throne after reclaiming enough strength to bear its responsibilities. |
Background
Triss was once the feared Scarlet Witch, a vampire renowned for traveling the continent, studying religions, pursuing rare artifacts, and entangling herself in dangerous affairs. Her research made her an exceptional historian and theologian, while her psionic talent earned recognition as a genius among vampires. 353 436 631
During her travels, she became an honorary elder of the Goatmen psionic organization known as the Dark Roots. Although she initially sought access to the group's treasury, she formed a genuine friendship with Master Moran, who once helped her escape Abyss City after a failed theft. 597
Salokdar stripped Triss of nearly all her Blood Essence more than a century before the events in Cadman City, leaving her physically frail despite retaining the knowledge and instincts of a Psionic Master. He also used her in the creation of Fimis, to whom Triss contributed part of her own power. 81 115
Triss found Murphy near death during a snowstorm and took him in. By the time he left Cadman City at the beginning of the story, she was already urging him to flee the Blood Vultures' territory and use her name to seek protection elsewhere. 4 490
Appearance
Triss is a striking vampire woman whose beauty is contrasted by a severe, centipede-like scar running from her neck down beneath her bodice. Her crimson eyes can take on an unnerving glow when she uses psionics or loses her composure. 4 41 121
- Often wears red clothing, including a vivid red cloak and fitted red dress. 50
- Uses a pirate-style eyepatch during her return to public activity. 90
- Wears the Scarlet Midnight Cloak when entering combat. 164
- Possesses blood wings, which she uses for flight and rapid movement. 328
- Her initially emaciated appearance improves substantially after recovering her missing origin. 121
Personality
Triss presents herself as lazy, wine-loving, and reluctant to accept work. She prefers staying in her alchemy hut, indulging in fine wine, and letting others handle tedious responsibilities whenever possible. 91 161
Behind that indolence is a calculating and extremely perceptive mind. She understands how to motivate and manipulate the Otherworld Warriors, deliberately using simple psionic displays, rewards, and mystery to secure their cooperation. 44 67 91
Her casual demeanor vanishes when Murphy or her allies are endangered. In such moments, the Scarlet Witch's ruthless and decisive nature resurfaces, whether threatening hostile knights, confronting suspected traitors, or crossing space immediately to rescue Murphy. 103 164 681
Triss is intensely curious about unfamiliar knowledge, especially the Otherworlders' science and technology. Learning chemistry, modern laboratory methods, and internet access rekindles the enthusiasm she associates with her youth as an alchemy apprentice. 413 713
