"What? The gnolls sent troops, but they didn't cross Baphomet Canyon. They charged straight into the Baphomet Grand Dungeon?"
Murphy was resting in Wolfburg when Adele brought him the news. The report was so strange that the vampire lord needed a moment to process it. He set down the combat manual of Lainnia and looked at his intelligence officer in confusion.
"You mean the gnolls really made the Baphomet cultists their target?
"I know our players carried out a lure operation there, and I know some gnoll players tried to stir up a conflict between the two factions inside the dungeon. But what exactly did they do to make the gnolls and the goatmen fight so viciously?
"They're like two brawling bulls.
"We barely had to lift a finger, and they've already slammed into each other."
"We're still looking into the details. The Nightmare cultists activated a strange ritual that made the dungeon's already indistinct layout even more random and deadly. Our initial assessment is that this is probably related to faith."
E gave her guess and continued softly, "According to what I learned from Lady Vilans, the Nightmare Tyrant Baphomet took the gnolls' souls for some unknown purpose. That was basically a direct provocation of the Lord of the Hunt. After all, he's the gnolls' racial god, and protecting every gnoll's soul is a duty he has no choice but to fulfill.
"Still, it's strange that things have escalated so quickly.
"General Hugueson on the other side isn't such a reckless commander. Perhaps his status as a Chosen has forced him to commit some of his elite troops to a war of faith?"
"We can't do much but guess. It's not like we're inside General Hugueson's head."
Murphy waved a hand.
"But matters of faith are always this troublesome.
