In Shadow Valley, Huxgerson, the Chosen Warlord who was still conducting the "Gnoll Spiritual Purification Campaign," received a special "guest."
The visitor appeared among the gnolls with astonishing composure and demanded to meet their current leader. Ordinarily, such an outrageous request would never have been accepted. To make matters worse, judging by his build, the visitor was human.
And yet, he made it safely through tens of thousands of gnolls and arrived at Huxgerson's tent without a hitch.
When he appeared, the great warlord was personally working at a forge left behind in the valley. Blazing flames consumed the metal ore the kobolds had dug up, while several elderly gnoll smiths busied themselves preparing molds for the warlord's weapon. Huxgerson himself stood nearby, turning a blood-red horn over in his claws.
The thing was enormous!
It looked like the head of a naturally formed armor-breaking warhammer. Though it was crimson, it gleamed with a strange luster like jade. Each time Huxgerson stroked it, it gave off a faint glow, as if it were alive.
Clearly, the great gnoll warlord intended to use it to forge himself a new weapon. That was the second reason he had stayed in Shadow Valley.
"You've trespassed into my valley, bewitched my soldiers, and now you're bold enough to stand before me. Stranger, should I take this as a provocation?"
The great warlord didn't turn around. In a voice full of menace, he spoke to the hooded figure behind him:
"State your name. That way, I'll at least have something to write on your tombstone."
"I am an ally of the Black Calamity, a welcome guest of Chieftain Amot, a close friend of Old Manson, and I've even met
