A wondrous sound rippled through every coin carelessly tossed aside in the Brass Dwarves' fortress. The more valuable the object, the clearer the sound, like the warm-up to a concert devoted to money. The golden and brass-colored things were so excited, as if they too were anticipating the arrival of some great power.
Of course, to hear the sound clearly, you had to hold a piece of burning gold up to your ear.
No one knew which drunken genius had first discovered this strange phenomenon, or under what circumstances. Soon, plenty of tipsy dwarves had tried it, but each heard something different from the raw burning gold in their hands.
"It's calling me to go into business! It says I have a talent for it!"
A veteran shouted. The person beside him immediately replied:
"It says I should be careful with my money. It also says I'm unlucky today and advises me not to go to the casino, but my hands are itching. Who wants to bet with me?"
"Quiet, quiet! I'm listening to what it's saying to me. Hmm, it's telling me I shouldn't hide my money under the floorboards. I should spend it on the things I want to buy. That'll bring me happiness and satisfaction, and motivate me to earn even more.
"I think it makes sense.
"Ha!
"Bartender, a drink for everyone here! It's on me!"
"Let's hear it for the generous one! And while you're at it, listen to what the coin in your hand says. Hiding money under the floorboards really is stupid!"
A crowd of drunks immediately began shouting, filling the noisy tavern with a cheerful atmosphere.
It never occurred to them to wonder why the coins and burning gold made such a light, pleasant sound. This obviously unnatural phenomenon seemed perfectly normal
