After arranging all the follow-up cleanup work in the Wayfarer ruins' control room, Murphy set off for the lower level.
But as soon as he stepped off the floating elevator, something came flying at him from behind. He caught it lightly and found a clean green apple in his hand.
"Isn't this a little childish? We're grown adults. Are you still playing these games?"
Murphy clicked his tongue, took a crisp bite of the apple, and turned around amid a spray of juice. Count Andre was approaching with an apple of his own, accompanied by his "left hand" and "right hand."
The governor was certain that Andre's Golden Scion was hiding in his shadow at that very moment.
"Bablo said there's treasure below. He went down ahead of us."
Count White Mountain spoke softly.
"I didn't believe him at first, but seeing you head down too, I'm starting to think Bablo really does have the 'treasure-hunting nose' he claims. So, what's down there?"
"Good question! But I'd rather you see for yourself."
Murphy snorted. He didn't object to Andre coming along, and continued forward as he spoke.
"Besides being the best hunters among vampires, the Blooddread Clan is also the most adventurous of our kind. They say the Blooddread Clan was already sending people to scout routes to the New World two hundred years ago. They ran into disaster and were forced to become pirates, but the spirit of exploration buried in their bones never died.
"I believe Bablo when he says he has a nose for treasure. He's the best pirate in the Misty Sea. It would be strange if he couldn't smell treasure.
"But this massive treasure belongs to me. Don't expect me to casually split it between the two of you."
"I have an estate to my
