Major Fraser had ultimately been granted permission to enter the Blood Eagle Corridor and inspect the situation in person.
Murphy hadn't blocked the "enemy spy" from going in. Though Old Finnock was dead and the Witch Hunter was badly wounded, meaning that in theory, the forces protecting this fellow had all but vanished, the vampire had no intention of keeping him around as a savage "souvenir" that would do nothing but enrage the Plantagenet Kingdom.
The first reason for this decision was that the Plantagenet Kingdom's operations in Transia needed a decent conclusion, and Major Fraser's personally written investigation report could bring the whole affair to a close. It would also help Murphy establish a stable external environment sooner.
Then there was the Capet family.
It was an ancient power that even Triss, a washed-up old woman who'd been down on her luck for over a century, knew about.
Back in Triss's prime, the family had already wielded some influence over Seland Kingdom's politics. It seemed one of the Capet family's ancestors had even crossed paths with Triss at some point. In any case, given the current situation in Transia and Cadman City, Murphy would never choose to make an enemy out of them just to satisfy a momentary impulse.
"Behave yourself. I'll be keeping an eye on you!"
The vampire sent his most loyal servant along with Major Fraser into the collapsed Blood Eagle Corridor. Faced with Maxim's threat, Major Fraser responded with a scoff.
As he gripped the rope and descended the damaged spiral staircase, he said to Maxim:
"If you want to intimidate an enemy, you can use your eyes, your presence, or your actions. Take it from me: if you're planning to be a loyal dog, using words to threaten someone is the most pathetic way
