Second, there weren't many veteran players in Scarlet Castle, the "main city," and the newcomers alone might not have been enough to handle the ghouls, who had been "hungry" for a long time and were attacking with terrifying ferocity.

There was, of course, a third reason.

Since killing the fallen swordsman summoned by Lady Cecilia, Murphy hadn't drawn his sword in battle. He'd been practicing with the super swordsmanship instructor, "Evil Master," but he felt this was a good chance to get some exercise.

He felt that if he didn't move around soon, his bones would rust.

Murphy's perfectly timed appearance as a "powerhouse" did, as he'd expected, boost morale.

Especially after they'd seen Lord Murphy's astonishing sword slash—a scarlet arc that instantly killed three elite ghouls. The new players, who'd been thrown into battle before they'd seen much of anything, all exclaimed, "Holy crap, that's awesome!"

The familiar praise pleased Murphy.

As a main-quest NPC, he had to show off his strength every now and then to reinforce the players' ingrained impression that "Lord Murphy is strong."

However, his performance, worthy of an award-winning actor, didn't fool Triss, who had been monitoring the city the whole time.

As Murphy summoned a pack of wolves to help the newbies clear out the sewers, Triss's question reached his ears, carrying a hint of teasing and confusion.

The Scarlet Witch said:

"It's just a ghoul uprising. Why did our Lord Murphy have to come in person? So, my little drama queen Murphy, do you feel regretful and itchy all over if you
