The Silvermoon Group and the Big Bird Group had settled on when to enter the swamp. Meow Brother had gone to buy seeds, while Madam Shui, accompanied by Orchid, had gone through the psionic portal on the Maginot Line to the Ancestral Forest to replace her equipment. Everyone else had some free time.
Little Ashina pestered Brother Qu until he finally agreed to take her for a ride on a Windroc. She immediately fell in love with the gorgeous, proud flying creatures.
She had already started planning to build up her reputation in the Ancestral Forest after they finished clearing the swamp. She just had to add a beautiful Windroc to her pet room.
She was a vampire herself, and she could fly no slower than a Windroc, but everyone had their hobbies, right?
What was wrong with a little rich girl like her liking all these strange things?
Everyone else in the Big Bird Group was single.
But they were all seasoned adventurers who didn't fawn over women, so under Smoke Mulberry's lead, they headed to the swamp early to get used to the terrain. That left only Lumina and Sister Pomegranate at the temporary camp, along with Three to Five Dou, who was on guard duty.
The three of them busied themselves around the campfire they'd set up for light that night, making small talk. A little over ten minutes later, Lumina suddenly lifted her head and said:
"There's a psionic disturbance! It's close—right near us!"
"Huh?"
Three to Five Dou reacted quickly and grabbed his warhammer. Sister Pomegranate beside him had already extended her punch daggers. Who would use psionics in this godforsaken place?
