Murphy had known ever since he was reborn that teleportation psychic arts had a poor reputation on the continent. Aside from the teleportation spells cast by psychics with an affinity for space, which could be considered "safe," all other forms carried a significant risk of getting lost.

Compared to the terrifying risk of becoming lost in the Astral Realm, anyone who valued their life would rather put up with the inconveniences of a long journey. Besides, there were plenty of ways to travel quickly across the continent. There was no need to gamble on teleportation.

There were only a handful of cases in history where teleportation had been used on a large scale, and every one of them had occurred at a critical moment. It was the sort of thing that hurt the enemy by a thousand while costing you eight hundred.

But that risk had been eliminated for Transia. Murphy's Astral guardian, the Endless One, Lord Mannis, was a rather unusual astral demigod. Thanks to its gift as a Time Serpent, it could appear anywhere in the Astral Realm at any time. One of the key terms in the "bizarre contract" Murphy had signed with it required Mannis to serve as Transia's "Astral Travel Safety Officer."

If any Transian suffered a teleportation accident, Mannis had to return them to the material world as quickly as possible.

The Endless One didn't mind the job. With its pathetic strength, there was no way it could stir up trouble in the Astral Realm anyway. It might as well get out and stretch its legs instead of sleeping all day.

The contract did, however, lay out "special circumstances."

For example, if some poor soul got lost in the Astral Realm near another demigod's lair or core territory, Lord Mannis wouldn't take the risk.
