(Extra chapter for "Everything's Great, Brother Huo" 16/20)
The girls' squad was highly efficient. Once they decided to set out, it took them only a little over ten minutes to cross the great fissure in the city and reach the inner district, using a stepped passage formed by the collapsed walls at the city's edge. In addition to the four of them, Meow Brother had accepted their invitation and joined as a temporary healer.
His four top men and his cousin, Little Hands, happened to be forming a five-man team to explore the sewers and grind levels, so their plans didn't interfere with one another.
"You're sure there's really a class-change clue here?"
Meow Brother, sporting a green wreath of psionic grass, gripped his arcane staff. Though he was an oak apprentice, he was dressed in a flashy vampire mage robe.
It wasn't that he was deliberately mixing styles. The gear they'd looted from the vampire psionicist had bonuses to psionic perception and control, and he couldn't bear to replace it.
Besides, mixing and matching was normal for players.
What male character hadn't worn a combination of a skirt and plate armor in a game?
Especially if you were playing a healer paladin and had to chase healing output. That daring little blue dress with its low-cut front and open back was an incredible piece of gear you couldn't afford to miss. Sure, a bald human man in a dress with a flower in his off hand was truly painful to look at, but you had to admit the whole outfit radiated the beauty of raw stats.
Meow Brother was clearly a stats-first player, so he didn't care how bizarre he looked.
The shrewd socialite stood beneath the half-collapsed city wall, surveying the desolate inner district before turning to Lumina.
