A flash of light.
Gu Qingshan and Crow appeared, and a cacophony of urgent warnings immediately rang in their ears.
"Do not go out and fight!"
"Stay here and wait for rescue!"
"Do not leave this stone tower. Everyone who left has died!"
"Reinforcements are on their way!"
High stone walls blocked their view. Gu Qingshan rested a hand on his sword and looked around, but saw no one.
The stone tower was cramped and about two stories tall. Runes and patterns from various civilizations had been etched into its inner walls with sorcery, creating a force that isolated it from space.
Gu Qingshan and Crow already occupied about a fifth of the tower's interior.
Clearly, this was a spatial tower used solely for teleportation. People traveled between worlds through it, but rarely stayed.
Crow crouched and picked up four white stones from the floor.
The warnings from earlier kept playing from the stones without pause.
"These are Voice Recording Stones," Crow said. "Squeeze one and speak into it, and it'll record the first thing you say, then keep repeating it."
Gu Qingshan sent out his divine sense, piercing the stone walls and spreading into the area beyond.
The desolate wilderness was devoid of life. Countless buildings lay in ruins, and corpses were scattered everywhere.
All traces of civilization had been destroyed.
Only the spatial teleportation tower built by Void City had survived as the sole remaining structure in this world.
"They're all dead," Gu Qingshan said.
"What?" Crow asked.
"I said everyone in this world is dead," Gu Qingshan replied.
This time, Crow understood.
He went to the window and looked out. Every corpse had a completely different expression frozen on its face.
Several professional combatants had died together. Some still wore stiff smiles, while others had despairing faces
