The second fish was done roasting.
It had to be said: Gu Qingshan really did have a knack for cooking.
Back then, it was only after his grilling skills had passed muster and he could sell food on the street that he managed to earn a little money for living expenses.
The whole fish had roasted to a golden brown, its rich aroma spreading through the wind and tantalizing the taste buds.
"How is it? Is it done?" Atley could barely contain himself.
"It's ready." Gu Qingshan handed him the branch.
Atley was just about to take it when a voice rang out:
"So this is where you are, roasting fish."
The two looked over and saw Reneedol standing far away on a large tree, gazing in their direction.
She lightly swooped down and landed in front of them.
She looked at Gu Qingshan crouching on the ground, roasting fish, then at Atley holding a bottle of wine. Reneedol's beautiful eyes narrowed.
"Everyone's hungry and worried about you, and you're roasting fish here?" she demanded.
Atley hurriedly said, "Rod said he wanted to practice his grilling technique."
Gu Qingshan sprang to his feet and shouted, "Not true! Atley insisted on trying one first!"
Atley glared at him. "You were the one who wanted to roast fish."
Gu Qingshan didn't back down. "I was going to take the fish back. Dare you say you weren't the one insisting on eating it?"
"I ate it, sure, but that was because you roasted it!"
"Then why did you ask me to roast a second one?"
Atley was momentarily at a loss for words.
