High Tower World.
A bar.
Several women were drinking.
"You're still not done?" Ye Ruxi asked.
Without looking up, Xiao Miao kept writing as she replied, "I can't help it. Writing is something I have to do every moment of every day. I've had too much to do today, so I'm already a little late with my update. I don't even have to guess—my readers are definitely cursing me right now."
She dropped her pen, picked up her glass, and drained it in one gulp.
"Mm... This drink's too strong. I'm guessing Anna picked it." She grimaced.
The others looked toward Anna, only to find her staring off into space.
"What's wrong, Sister Anna?" Lola asked, giving her arm a shake.
Anna managed a faint smile. "I don't know. I just feel... inexplicably uneasy."
Suddenly, a piercing alarm rang throughout the entire world.
Xiao Miao set down her glass, her expression turning grave. "I'll take you there."
Without anyone seeing her move, she and the others vanished from the bar, bar counter and all.
High Tower.
Thud!
With a muffled bang, the bar counter and the four girls appeared before everyone.
"Why'd you bring the bar counter with you?" Barry complained.
"If it's nothing important, we'll listen while we drink," Xiao Miao said.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid you won't have time to drink," said the Guild Master of the High Tower Association.
He poured himself a glass of wine.
"What's going on?" Ye Ruxi asked.
The Guild Master of the High Tower Association said, "This Time Island has been drifting along the River of Time all this while. Our scholars are very interested in it, so they made some tools to observe the various historical fragments within the River of Time. I'm sure you all know about that."
Everyone nodded.
