The Strange Events on the Narrow Path
Underground Cave.
Gu Qingshan, Lola, and Liao Xiaopao followed the stone steps, heading deeper into the dark underground.
The surroundings grew quieter and quieter, until they could barely hear a sound.
Lola quickly glanced up and couldn't help whispering, "Gu Qingshan, I'm scared."
Gu Qingshan and Liao Xiaopao stopped.
They both looked up and examined the ceiling of the cave again.
—From the very start of their journey, they had noticed several statues hanging upside down from the cave ceiling.
The statues depicted humans, beasts, elves, the Elemental Race, Void Creatures, and other races. Their faces were contorted in panic as they struggled desperately, trying to pounce on the three of them along the narrow underground path.
But their feet were stuck to the cave ceiling, and they couldn't break free. They remained frozen in the same positions.
If Lola had seen them only once, she probably wouldn't have been afraid. The problem was that they'd been walking for hours, and there wasn't a living creature in sight. Those statues were always above them, and there were more and more of them. Little by little, she couldn't take it anymore.
"Do you think they were alive once, or were they carved?" Liao Xiaopao asked with interest.
—As someone who had awakened the power of the world, he wasn't frightened by these bizarre statues.
"Since they're all making the same gestures to escape, they must be expressing the same thing," Gu Qingshan said.
Corpses, souls, the dead, ghosts—
These things were all too familiar to Gu Qingshan. In fact, they were practically his line of work, so he hadn't been particularly interested at first.
Now that Lola seemed a little scared, he decided to take a closer look.
"—What are they trying to express?"
