Deep inside the Myriad Gods Temple.
An enormous ancient tree stood among countless flowers and plants.
Mu stood before the tree and murmured, "The Destiny Twin Trees... They once bore two legendary fruits, one of them Reneedol and the other Xi. Afterward, they withered completely, never to stir with life again. I never thought..."
He looked up at the tree.
A brand-new fruit hung from one of its branches.
Mu leaped lightly into the air and flew up to inspect the fruit.
"Mu! Time's almost up. Why are you still here—"
A woman's voice rang out suddenly, then cut off.
Reneedol.
She stared at the fruit on the tree and exclaimed in astonishment, "The Fate Fruit!"
Before the words had even left her lips, she flashed onto the branch and reached for the fruit.
Smack!
Mu knocked her hand away.
"Don't pick it. It'll die," Mu said.
"—It holds the power of fate, Mu. I need it!" Reneedol said.
Mu looked at her and said earnestly, "You were once a fruit yourself. Have you forgotten?"
Reneedol paused.
She looked around. All the gods had emerged from the temple and were gathered around, silently watching the scene before them.
She couldn't very well make a scene in front of them.
Mu turned back and stared intently at the fruit, murmuring one incantation after another.
After a long while,
he stopped chanting and said with a sigh, "I finally understand why."
All the gods looked at him.
He began, "This tree once received help from Rod—and with me nourishing it all these years, it stayed alive and slowly recovered."
Reneedol glanced at one of the gods.
The god immediately asked, "My king, according to the prophecy, this tree was only supposed to bear Reneedol and Xi. Why has it borne another fruit?"
