"Come on. Take me to Zhuge Wolong." Hao Shuai headed deeper into the prison first.
When they reached the end of the prison, in the very last cell, Hao Shuai saw an old man in ragged clothes, with long hair and a beard that nearly obscured his features. The man had his back to the cell door, absorbed in carving words into the wall. The sound of Hao Shuai and the others approaching didn't even catch his attention.
"Uncle, it's me, Ning Caichen." Seeing Zhuge Wolong, who had once saved his life, Ning Caichen called out excitedly.
"Hm?" Only then did Zhuge Wolong turn around at the sound of someone calling him. When he saw Ning Caichen, he said calmly, "So it's you, young man."
"It is indeed. First, I must thank you for saving my life, Uncle—no, Mr. Zhuge." Ning Caichen bowed deeply to Zhuge Wolong.
"All right. There'll be plenty of time to talk later." Hao Shuai interrupted their reunion, yanked open the cell door, and walked inside.
"Mr. Zhuge, could we have a few words?" Hao Shuai asked.
As he studied the famous Zhuge Wolong up close, Hao Shuai noticed that although the man looked filthy, he didn't smell at all. His eyes were bright, and he seemed hale and vigorous.
More importantly, through his mystic sight, Hao Shuai saw that Zhuge Wolong seemed like a blazing sun, radiating countless streams of brilliant blue-green light.
"Is that Vast Righteous Qi?!" Hao Shuai exclaimed. This was the first time he had encountered Vast Righteous Qi since arriving in the Strange Tales World.
Vast Righteous Qi was a system unique to the Strange Tales World, distinct from Buddhism and Daoism. Rather than being a form of cultivation, it was more a practice of the mind.
