"Kill it!"
After a moment's hesitation, Dr. Serizawa gave the order, though it pained him.
Dr. Serizawa wasn't grieving over MUTO's death. What troubled him was that if MUTO died, they would have no specimen to observe and study, and research into the Titans would once again grind to a halt.
But now, for the safety of everyone at the base, he had no choice but to make the painful decision.
As soon as the order was given, the safety system activated. Blue arcs of electricity surged into the containment cage, gathering rapidly until an immense amount of energy had built up.
"Rumble—rumble—"
Powerful arcs of electricity struck the enormous cocoon. Each blow rang out like an explosion against the rocklike shell. Then the cocoon's orange glow suddenly dimmed, and its top collapsed, as if signaling that the creature inside had died.
"All the readings have dropped to zero."
A moment later, the electromagnetic pulse faded, and the cocoon fell completely silent.
"It's over. It's all over!" Dr. Graham lamented.
"Heh. If MUTO could die that easily, would it still be a Titan?" Hao Shuai said with a smile. "You'd better evacuate everyone at the base while you still can!"
This was the second time Hao Shuai had warned Dr. Serizawa and the others. It wasn't because he was kindhearted and couldn't stand to see people die. He simply knew he would have to stay with Monarch for a while, so he might as well use this opportunity to earn some goodwill.
Otherwise, with seventy or eighty percent of the people at the base being Japanese, Hao Shuai wouldn't have cared whether they lived or died. He only needed to keep Dr. Serizawa safe.
Hao Shuai's warning made Dr. Serizawa realize how serious the situation was. He immediately shouted,
