Along the way, the expedition team encountered countless strange prehistoric creatures that constantly threatened their lives. The members also met the mysterious primitive Iwi tribe. They gradually learned about Kong's origins and why he guarded the island, and discovered an even more savage and brutal monster living there—the Skullcrawlers.
After narrowly escaping death several times, the surviving scientists finally got off Skull Island. They covered up what had happened and joined Monarch.
