The Oka System was a vocal device that collected sounds produced by living creatures and converted them into basic syllables those creatures could recognize. From there, it developed audio codes that could influence their behavior.
By combining the bioacoustic traits of different Titans, Emma Russell had created the Oka signal to attract and drive them away. Sometimes, it could even calm them.
But Hao Shuai remembered that the complete Oka System wasn't supposed to be perfected until three years later, in 2017. Why was it already in use three years ahead of schedule?!
Could Emma Russell be a cheater too?!
Hao Shuai shook his head, banishing the ridiculous thought. There could only be one cheater in a world. That was a matter of principle.
What Hao Shuai didn't know was that Emma Russell had been able to create a perfected version of the Oka System ahead of schedule thanks to his help.
If he hadn't spent the previous months hunting Titans all over the world and making them roar in pain, Emma Russell wouldn't have been able to collect enough of their acoustic traits so soon.
"Why did you do it?"
While Hao Shuai was still puzzling over the Oka System, Dr. Serizawa angrily confronted Emma.
The doctor simply couldn't understand why a colleague he'd worked with for years would go so far as to conspire with outsiders, betray the organization, harm her own colleagues, and unleash the immensely dangerous Titans.
"I'm sorry I had to do it this way. If there'd been any other option, I would have chosen it." Guilt showed on Emma Russell's face. "But this is the only way to save the world."
"By releasing the Titans? That doesn't make sense." Dr. Serizawa was bewildered. This was the first time he'd heard that unleashing monsters
