Slaying the Wood Ba, Obtaining the Azure Spirit Marrow, Transplanting the Vermillion Fruit!
A group of bears and orangutans escorted Hao Shuai and the two girls into a cave. The cave was astonishingly spacious, about a hundred zhang wide. In the middle stood a huge boulder, roughly twenty zhang high and over ten zhang wide, covered with animal skins.
Hao Shuai casually found a rock to sit on. A dozen or so orangutans took turns presenting them with fruit.
"Wait!"
The lively Li Yingqiong picked up an unfamiliar wild fruit from among the offerings and was about to eat it when Hao Shuai suddenly called out to stop her.
Hao Shuai took the fruit from the bewildered girl. It was about the size of a longan and red as blood. He knew at once it was the Vermillion Fruit he had been looking for, and asked, "Take me to where this fruit grows!"
The orangutan standing nearby seemed troubled by his request.
Knowing what they feared, Hao Shuai immediately reassured them. "Don't be afraid. Lead me there, and I'll get rid of the threat for you."
As soon as he finished speaking, the orangutans all cried out in unison and nodded.
The old orangutan at their head rose to its feet, called out to Hao Shuai twice, then led the way.
"Qingyun, Yingqiong, make yourselves at home while I'm gone. I'll be right back!" Hao Shuai turned and instructed them, then followed the old orangutan.
The old orangutan crossed a mountain ridge and made its way behind a cliff.
Suddenly, a lone peak loomed before them, rising a hundred or so zhang into the air. Its summit was covered with many strange flowers and exotic fruits. At the foot of the peak lay a long, deep ravine. Water gurgled through it, the sound of the spring deafening.
The old orangutan suddenly stopped and
