By then, he was famished, parched, and exhausted, so he rested beneath the jade wall.
Legend had it that the patriarch sat beneath the blank jade wall for three days and three nights. Somehow, his initial hunger and thirst gradually gave way to meditation. His mind grew calm and his spirit settled, and he entered a state of Buddhist perfection. After three days, he attained enlightenment beneath the blank jade wall, comprehending Buddhist principles and discovering the supreme Dharma, Great Brahma Prajna, passed down through the generations of Tian Yin Temple. This established Tian Yin Temple's place among the cultivation sects of the world.
