"This morning, the Wesen Army assembled a force of over ten thousand and openly built a pontoon bridge to force a crossing of the Oder River, brazenly invading our sacred homeland. Our Gubinburg garrison immediately mounted a valiant defense, fighting fiercely and holding back the invading enemy with dogged determination. We successfully slowed their advance, buying vital time for reinforcements to assemble in the rear. After fierce fighting, our forces ultimately routed the enemy and forced them to retreat."

A dispatch from the Piaster Kingdom quickly spread through the Winged Hussars' camp. Everyone wept for joy, and the news soon reached the allied forces' camps.

After Grand Duke Wessen had led eight hundred men to crush the Piaster Kingdom's hundred-thousand-strong army at the Battle of the Elbe, the Wesen Army had become a dark cloud hanging over the entire country. Each victory they won made that cloud a little thicker.

Now, the myth of the Wesen Army's invincibility had finally been shattered. Daybreak had come.

Casimir carefully studied the dispatch in his tent, convinced there had to be more to the story.

The Wesen Army's 3rd Division had intended to create panic and ease the pressure on Red Waterwheel Village. At most, they had destroyed the docks outside Gubinburg to delay the delivery of grain. Only a few hundred men could really have crossed the river; the figure of over ten thousand must refer to the troops on the far bank.

The soldiers guarding the warehouses in Gubinburg must have put up some resistance, but it was hard to say how much. The lack of detailed casualty figures probably meant they had put on a show, then withdrawn from the docks.
