"Hi, future adventurer. This is the great adventurer Robert. By the time you read this letter, I should already be deep inside the dungeon.
"Strange as it may seem, this is only a Small Dungeon, yet it's unexpectedly dangerous. There's even an elite Dungeon Guardian guarding the entrance.
"But no matter what, the adventure goes on. I'll set up Safe Houses in a few secure places. You can rest properly in these rooms, where the fire is lit, and recover. Oh, and I've left behind a waist lantern. Don't forget to take it with you.
"Little tip: Aim for the joints of skeleton creatures whenever possible. Knocking them apart and scattering them across the ground can save you a lot of effort.
"Press onward, future adventurer. Adventurers will never turn down a dungeon!"
That was the end of the letter. Xiao Yang also noticed the waist lantern on the table. He picked it up and found it was an item of excellent quality.
Dark Dispelling Lantern

Type: Illumination, Purification, Healing
Effect: Dispels the darkness deep within dungeons, purifies the faint curses brewing in the shadows, and restores one health point per minute when out of combat.
Description: A kind explorer left this gift for those who came after.
Mr. Robert was a good man. He'd just given away an excellent-quality lantern with a full range of functions.
It seemed that none of its functions were particularly potent: it could only dispel faint curses, and it could restore health only outside combat.
But as a lantern whose main purpose was illumination, it came with these additional effects, too. Even in a game, the Dark Dispelling Lantern would be a rare little treasure.
He hung the lantern at his waist and picked up the hatchet from the Beginner's Gift Pack. In his Personal Backpack lay a stack of pale red Health Potions and a Basket of Bread.
Oh, right. He seemed to have forgotten something. Xiao Yang chose to summon his little servant. Amid a wash of hazy gray light, a tiny skeleton appeared before him. It stood only a little above Xiao Yang's knees, wore a tattered black robe, carried a big sack on its back, and clutched a rusty dagger in its hand.
It was the gift Xiao Yang had received from the Dungeon Delver: a Skeleton Rogue.
After being summoned, the little fellow didn't panic or run around. It simply raised its head slightly. Two dim white soul flames swayed inside its rather bony little skull.
For some reason, Xiao Yang thought it looked like a kitten.
He recalled the description in its information panel: this was a little fellow who feared being alone. He reached out to pat its head. It seemed a little afraid and wanted to dodge, but in the end, it did nothing.
Of course, Xiao Yang didn't do anything either. He merely patted the little fellow's head.
"I'll call you Little Bone. Do your best!"
The little fellow raised its head.
Xiao Yang had now finished most of his preparations. Next, he would explore the Skeleton Dungeon.
Gazing at the dim corridor beyond the door, he spoke with unintentional smugness.
"I wonder if I've prepared enough."
That was an absurdly smug thing to say. As the first player on Plane 33214—and perhaps the only one for quite some time—Xiao Yang had already received treatment that surpassed that of ninety-nine percent of players.
His very existence was an anomaly.
Plane 33214 hadn't yet reached the stage when the supernatural revival began and God Game entered testing. For some unknown reason, though, the basement of Xiao Yang's home was connected to a Skeleton Dungeon. As the first human in this world to set foot in a Supernatural Realm, this unexpected turn of events had somehow jolted the dormant God Game servers into activation.
This wasn't normal. The game content, the various Version Updates that should have been rolled out gradually—all of it was unprepared. The God Game had been forced to boot up, and it hadn't even generated a beginner's trial for Xiao Yang.
And so, Xiao Yang had exploited a bug. He'd logged in early and entered free mode. Usually, that wouldn't have mattered much, because Plane 33214 hadn't even experienced a Magic Tide yet. Even if Xiao Yang had logged in early, he wouldn't have had access to much content, let alone been able to level up or unlock the other features of God Game.
But the situation was different this time. Xiao Yang's basement was connected to a Skeleton Dungeon.
In a dim, cramped room.
Xiao Yang barely dodged the swing of a rusty iron sword and slammed the hatchet in his hand into the sword-wielding skeleton in front of him.
Pale bones were piled up before him.
Xiao Yang had been pushing deeper into the Skeleton Dungeon for nearly half a day. During that time, he'd explored a long stretch of corridor and several dim rooms. The Skeleton Dungeon wasn't unreasonable enough to put an elite enemy like the Dungeon Guardian in every passage. Most of the enemies he'd encountered so far were ordinary skeletons that suddenly sprang up from the ground to catch him off guard.
These resurrected bones were between level one and level three. Aside from their high defense, they had no other notable traits. When you got close, they would suddenly rise from the ground, brandishing bone clubs and lunging at you with wild swings.
But as long as you weren't afraid, these skeletons weren't much trouble.
Once he'd overcome his fear, Xiao Yang found the lowest-level skeletons easy to handle. Following Robert's advice, he swung the Wilderness Hatchet at their joints. A few hits were usually enough to knock the bony creatures down, scattering their bodies across the floor. Then Xiao Yang only had to smash the skull that had rolled away to kill them for good.
Everything had gone smoothly—until now. As Xiao Yang entered the room and methodically cleared out the skeletons, a much taller skeleton had risen. Its bones were smoother and more lustrous, and it held a Rusty Shortsword in its hand.
Behind the taller skeleton, Xiao Yang spotted a square chest.
