The Red-eyed Rats had deformed arms growing from their bellies. The slimes gathered arm bones of all sizes. Even the Moss Lizards crawling haphazardly across the ceiling of the lower tunnel had deformed bulges beneath their flesh, not yet broken through their tails.

The pale skull in Little Bone's hand fell to the ground, startling the giant crab inside. No, no—that wasn't a crab at all. Its legs were tangled together, growing haphazardly and twisting into a knot. It was a grotesque, terrifying thing.

A boot came crashing down, crushing the strange crab into a pulp. Little Bone was frightened and grabbed Xiao Yang without thinking.

Xiao Yang rubbed the little one's head.

"Good. Hide in my shadow, and don't come out without permission!"

Turning around, Xiao Yang started back the way he had come. But before long, another wall that looked just as real
