The Reason He Was Trusted

Franz had recently felt like he was about to collapse.

As a member of the Perella Family, he was one of the rare descendants of great nobles on the New Continent.

Normally, no one would pay much attention to a frivolous second-generation heir like him.

But Transcendent Knights had recently become all the rage. Everyone seemed to believe the tales and legends, approaching him indirectly to ask about Transcendent inheritances.

Of course, most people knew that the Perella Family probably had no Transcendent inheritance, but what if they did?

For any individual, it might have been just one inquiry.

But for Franz, it was countless disturbances.

He explained again and again, sent visitors away again and again, and was nearly at his breaking point.

So when he saw Hubble, his trusted subordinate, he was already too exhausted to stand.

Naturally, Hubble knew what Franz had been through recently. But the moment they met, he still could not stop himself from blurting out, "Baron, do you really not know about a Transcendent Knight inheritance?"

Franz's smile froze, then he cursed loudly, "Hubble, have you gone stupid too? If I had a Transcendent inheritance, I'd be cultivating at home every day. Would I still have come here?"

He found it utterly absurd. You all want to become Transcendent Knights—do you think I don't?

But he really did not know!

A second before the Transcendent Knights emerged, he had still been thinking about how to run away.

Hubble gave an embarrassed laugh and asked again, "Do you think I have a chance of joining the Augusta Knight Order?"

He did not want to become an official at all anymore. What was so good about being an official?
