Pride and prejudice!
Ganis tried his best not to become like those people, only to find that he could not do it.
"Lord, please forgive the ingrained flaws of my mortal nature."
He had thought about enduring it, but now he realized he could not endure it at all.
When he had no faith, he endured it. Now that he had faith, if he still had to endure it, then what was the point of having faith?
Now that he had strength, he found this humiliation especially unbearable.
"Sir, I have only two demands. Everyone involved must be handed over to the Sect for judgment, and compensation for the aftermath must be properly arranged."
"Impossible!" The official leaped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on and shouted, "This is a challenge to the laws of the entire civilization. No one could agree to that."
Not to mention a minor official like him—even the Governor would not dare agree to such an excessive demand.
This was not as simple as paying compensation and bending the law for personal gain. Letting the Sect intervene in the trial would mean granting them authority above the law, would it not?
To put it selflessly, once such privilege spiraled out of control, countless people would surely be wronged.
To put it selfishly, if the Sect were given such authority, would they not come after the official himself next time?
After all, no one dared claim their own hands were completely clean. Would it not be unjust to be killed by the Sect when that time came?
Ganis had anticipated such an intense reaction.
So he replied calmly, "I am merely informing you, not asking for your opinion.
If you disagree, then let us go to war!
Let us fight a civil war
