Ch. 184The Same-Tier Battle

Lu Cang battled a white-haired, red-eyed youth who wielded abilities from eight professions, enduring his attacks and countering him with Origin Magic, powerful defenses, and rapid healing. As the youth explained his Eternal Undefeated battle will and void-phasing defense, a Swift Kill Speed Ghost attacked from behind and a massive black blade descended from the front.

  • Lu Cang survived the youth’s sword strikes and detonated repeated Soul Condensation True Explosions, but the youth returned to attack with swords, cannons, and other class abilities.
  • Lu Cang froze the arena with Era of Absolute Ice Seal, raised and reclaimed the souls of the youth’s undead, and used Future Law to freeze him long enough to land a spear strike.
  • Lu Cang’s healing and defenses let him withstand further attacks, and he pierced the youth’s throat after using the Evil Eye Gaze Cloak to surprise the Observer.
  • The youth phased through Lu Cang’s spear and revealed that he entered a higher dimension when attacked, while describing his Eternal Undefeated battle will and defensive creed.

  • Lu Cang’s group reached Serl City, slipped past its defenses, and found a hidden passage beneath the palace leading toward an underground city.
  • Lu Cang identified the passage as an entrance to the Inner World, and Kumiloni scouted it before the group followed her inside.

  • Lu Cang sensed powerful, nonhuman auras approaching Serl City from every direction.

Ch. 196Skinning and the Shapeshifting God's Game

Lu Cang confronted a vast force of Skin Stealers surrounding Serl City and discovered they were part of a worldwide cult serving the God of Skinning and Shapeshifting, Aertemi. As the entire capital shed its disguises, Lu Cang realized Skin Stealers had taken over the city and that the order to capture Kumiloni was part of a much larger divine plan.

  • Lu Cang recognized that he had underestimated his enemies, then killed Nicodi and struck down dozens of attackers with a single wind spell.

  • Lu Cang realized that only a god could alter the celestial phenomenon and used several techniques to escape an attack.
  • Aertemi revealed herself, said she had come for Kumiloni, and reached Lu Cang after stripping away the shields around him.

Ch. 198The Immortal Skin

Lu Cang fought Aertemi’s skin-wearing vessel across Serl City, using church wards, soul explosions, and his power to make her forget to survive her attacks. With all three churches’ Forbidden Halls destroyed, he was left in the open sky as Aertemi regenerated again.

  • Lu Cang escaped Aertemi’s attacks and identified her as a vessel controlled by Aertemi’s skin, while the kingdom’s and churches’ wards restrained her.
  • Lu Cang unleashed a soul explosion and struck Aertemi with attacks that used his forgetting power, but she touched him and began stripping away his skin and flesh as his body regenerated.
  • Lu Cang retreated between the churches’ Forbidden Halls and repeatedly attacked Aertemi with battle spears while predicting her movements and replenishing his souls.

Ch. 199Lu Cang's Tier 4 Origin Magic

Lu Cang battled Aertemi with holy relics, Void tactics, and rapid regeneration, repeatedly lowering her Death Date but struggling to escape her attacks. At the brink of death, he understood how essence and its outer manifestations formed a complete whole and manifested his Tier 4 Origin Magic, Core of the All-Encompassing Whole.

  • Lu Cang released the seals on the Dark Church relic, using its darkness to evade Aertemi and create an opening for a soul-sacrificing strike with the Holy Spear.
  • Lu Cang pierced Aertemi with the Holy Spear, and its light reduced her to ashes, lowering her Death Date to 10 years, 6 months, and 22 days before she regenerated.
  • Aertemi attacked Lu Cang with her skin-stripping power, but he scattered his heart, brain, kidneys, and liver before rapidly regenerating his body.
  • Lu Cang repeatedly used Forget: Void and summoned Holy Spears, while Aertemi grew more irritated and pursued him through the Void.
  • As Aertemi’s hooked dagger neared him, Lu Cang understood that the Source included both singular essence and its many outer manifestations.
  • Lu Cang formed a dazzling core in his palm and pressed it toward Aertemi, manifesting Tier 4 Origin Magic: Core of the All-Encompassing Whole.

Ch. 200God Slayer

Lu Cang defeated Aertemi, who had descended through Ties, and destroyed her body and soul after nearly dying to her Divine Authority. He returned from the Inner World with Kumiloni and the others, learned why Izpalut had stayed away, and his victory was recorded as the day he slew a god.

  • Aertemi dodged Lu Cang's attack, pierced his heart, and believed she had killed him, but Lu Cang reappeared and shattered her with his Origin Magic.
  • Lu Cang stripped Aertemi from Ties, took Ties's soul, and obliterated Ties so neither could return; he then learned about Ties and claimed Aertemi's Ten Thousand Skins Bag.
  • Lu Cang opened the Inner World and found Kumiloni and the others alive; Kumiloni healed him, and the group left the devastated battlefield.
  • On the journey back, Lu Cang recounted his fight with Aertemi, and Kumiloni urged him to flee future enemies beyond his strength.
  • In Knoroya, Izpalut apologized for not coming and explained he had stayed to prevent An Zheng from attempting a dangerous path to level nine.
  • The Life Church publicized Lu Cang's victory, recording that on January 16, 5026, he had slain a god.

Ch. 201Month: Life and Growth

After the Month of Forgetting erased Lu Cang’s memories of January, he used his records to recover what he had studied and adjusted to February’s healing Life Rain. On February 4, he boarded a specially modified airship with Kumiloni and White Tower scholars to attempt his advancement to level-four mage.

  • Lu Cang was honored by the Life Church for defeating Aertemi, reviewed his spoils, and discussed advancing as a mage with Kumiloni while the White Tower researched a moving Promotion Hall.
  • During January, Lu Cang studied Fate and Time, trained with Yuna, and watched Loren incorporate most of Ruijia; on January 31, he and Yuna fell asleep as the Month of Forgetting ended.
  • On February 1, Lu Cang woke with no memories of January, used Information Tracing on his blank Fire Writing Paper, and learned that February’s Life Rain and Leap Year Blessing had begun.

  • Lu Cang boarded the Flying Light with Kumiloni and the Mechanists, who prepared to conduct his promotion ritual at top speed.
  • The airship accelerated to 800 kilometers per second, and Kumiloni began the ritual after they shook off the Foul Worms.
  • Lu Cang used Origin Magic and his core to blast the ocean and touch the Mage Origin, gaining information about the God-Tier Secret Origin.
  • Lu Cang formed a defensive core around his knowledge and magic, then submitted the remains of a Tier 6 Continent-Sinking Tier magical beast as combat experience.
  • Pale light descended from the Mage Origin, and Lu Cang's mage level rose to Level 4.

Ch. 203God-Tier Complete Method

After becoming a 4th-tier Mage, Lu Cang gained the God-Tier talent Complete Method and confirmed that the group had escaped the Contamination Worms by outrunning them. Back in Knoroya, he pulled Hun Mu from class to discuss something, and Hun Mu panicked and begged him not to punish him for a practice shared by other teachers.

  • Lu Cang gained Complete Method, which let him complete lost magical laws, comprehend another person's Origin Magic of the same tier, and resist knowledge contamination.
  • Lu Cang confirmed that neither he nor Kumiloni sensed contamination, and Flying Light slowed after the pursuing Contamination Worms disappeared behind them.
  • The scholars realized that outrunning the worms worked, then questioned how fast a ship would need to travel and whether Loren could afford the fuel or a suitable mechanic.
  • On the return journey, Lu Cang and the others passed the Secret Sea and saw the distant Tengge Continent.
  • Lu Cang went to Hun Mu's classroom, ended the lesson early, and gave the students 20,000 gold coins as compensation.
  • Hun Mu panicked when Lu Cang took him aside and begged him not to single him out, claiming Teachers Tino and Pafa did the same thing.
