"Interfering with Fate goes against a fortune-teller's principles."

"How do you know that the tiny corner of Fate they glimpse won't be vastly different from the whole picture?"

"When they start rambling about mysterious things, just do what you won't regret."

Lu Cang nodded slightly. He had gained some insight into fortune-tellers and understood them a little better.

Lu Cang asked, "Iz, what should I do about Mese?"

"I feel like he's already got his eye on me."

Lu Cang didn't suggest going into hiding or running away.

If a mage of that level really had his sights set on him, escaping would be difficult.

Izpalut replied, "As long as I'm here, he won't be able to lay a hand on you."

"He's no match for me."

"There isn't a mage in this world who can beat me."

Iz thought for a moment, then continued, "I'll go kill him. This matter deserves to be settled once and for all."

His tone held absolute confidence.

Having a reliable master promise to take care of things was incredibly reassuring.

Iz moved on from the subject.

"You've already created your own spells?"

Lu Cang nodded. "I've created four, building on spells I've already learned."

"But I have some ideas for other spells, too. I just feel like I'm missing something crucial, so I can't finish them."

Iz stroked his chin, thinking.

"Lu Cang, you really are a genius second only to me."

Could he leave out the "second only to me" part?

"You're just lacking theoretical knowledge."

"You can only use existing spells to deduce what other spells might be possible."

"I'll teach you what you need to know."

"We'll start today. I have to help them repair the city walls in a bit, then we'll head to the training grounds this afternoon."
