Wang Shu's forcefulness left Laozi with no choice but to give up the position of Ziwei the Great Emperor.
"Alas, Xuandu simply lacks sufficient fortune!"
Laozi compromised.
"Since that is the case, the final Great Emperor should belong to our Western Lands. Surely my senior martial brothers have no objections?"
Zhunti said with a grin to the Three Pure Ones. When he looked at Laozi, his eyes held both sympathy and a hint of gloating.
Though Yuanshi and Tongtian were displeased, there was nothing they could do about Wang Shu. They could only let their eldest brother suffer this grievance.
"Hehe, Fellow Daoist Zhunti, you are mistaken. This final Great Emperor belongs to the Underworld and has nothing to do with your Western Teach."
"Fellow Daoist Qing Yue, what do you mean by that? The Heavenly Court belongs to the Heavenly Dao. What does it have to do with the Earth Dao?"
Zhunti immediately lost his composure. Rising to his feet, he drew out the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree. They had fought so hard to secure these benefits for the Western Lands—how could they possibly agree to give them away?
"You should not ask me that. Why not ask Haotian, or ask the Heavenly Dao?"
When the Saints had proposed dividing the Heavenly Emperor's authority, the wills of the Heavenly Dao Saints had influenced the operation of the Heavenly Dao Rules, and four Dao Fruit Positions had automatically emerged within the Heavenly Court.
They did not understand what these Dao Fruit Positions represented and merely intended for the Four Teachings to each take a share.
But the appearance of Wang Shu and Qing Yue interrupted all of that, preventing events from unfolding as they had envisioned.
