Ten Kalpas later, the Great Dao Divine Lightning had fully condensed. A bolt struck down, and the Lotus of the Earth did not resist at all, directly absorbing it.
As the first bolt fell, the second followed close behind. The lightning continued to strike until the thirty-sixth bolt, when the Lotus of the Earth could no longer absorb it.
The Lotus of the Earth spread its petals and began resisting. After the forty-eighth bolt struck, its petals started to dim. The Great Dao Divine Lightning grew vastly more powerful, and the lotus was nearly unable to withstand it.
When the forty-ninth bolt had finished gathering, it plunged down with the force of rolling thunder.
Purple radiance continuously flew from the lotus, forming a massive barrier above it. The divine lightning struck the barrier directly, and the two collided. The Lotus of the Earth trembled without pause, letting out a mournful cry.
Fortunately, the divine lightning did not last long. Before the barrier shattered, the lightning vanished. Yet the lightning overhead had not disappeared; it was still gathering, as though there was one final bolt.
